The first step is to enlighten those around us of this need.
This includes any and everyone. We will come to you, gladly and make sure that regardless of your personal or professional experience, you are armed with information and applicable skills to save lives of those in our community. There is no cost to our programs, we operation on donations.
The second step is to engage others on the best way to have those crucial conversations.
This includes educating specified individuals on mental illness and symptom management, as well as learning how to pinpoint signs that someone may be experiencing suicidal thoughts. We provide individuals with the knowledge needed to express their desire to help in a constructive manner and participants take The I WILL Pledge.
The final step is to empower the greater community.
This includes destigmatizing mental illness and normalizing the process of symptom management. This may look like a school assembly, a training provided at your job, or a town-hall style meeting in which the community is informed of the training that has taken place and The I WILL Project symbol is introduced as the way to see who's able and willing to help.
I WILL stand in the gap and be the bridge between those struggling and resources
I WILL continually seek to educate myself on mental health and wellness
I WILL look for suicide and depression warning signs in those around me
I WILL reach out directly, calmly, and without judgment to those who need me
I WILL remind others that the world is a better place with them in it
I WILL provide accessible, appropriate and available resources for those in need
I WILL follow up with those I've helped to see how they are doing and continue to care
I WILL consistently take personal inventory and seek help for myself if I am struggling
I WILL be the change that my community needs
If you believe that your agency, practice, or clinic may be a beneficial resource to those experiencing mental health emergencies or those requiring mental health services, please reach out to The I WILL Project. We would be happy to send a representative to your next staff meeting to discuss connecting our resources to bring you those who need you the most!
We love all-inclusive safe spaces for our community, including clinics that specialize in the LGBTQ community, minority community connections, low-income community assistance, and more.
